New York Yankees fans can count out any hopes that major league baseball’s bearded wonder, Brian Wilson will be landing in the Big Apple. According to Yankees beat writer, Bryan Hoch, Wilson will not entertain any offers from clubs that have facial hair rules.
After bouncing back from Tommy John surgery in 2012, Wilson spent last season with the Los Angeles Dodgers and helped anchor the back-end of a shaky bullpen. Wilson pitched 30 innings for the Dodgers last season with one save, a 5.40 ERA and 4 holds. Moderate numbers for the once dominating closer as he looks to regain his former dominance.
Wilson’s beard and unexplainable antics have managed to keep him relevant, even after he was out of the game for a nearly a whole year. Wilson knows that his beard is his golden ticket to continued endorsement opportunities, TV time and appearances on crappy blogs like this one. Wilson is playing it smart and grasping onto his money-maker, because you can’t throw baseballs 90+ mph your whole life. Expect Wilson to draw some attention from the Boston Red Sox, at least we know they’re equal facial hair opportunity employers.
Since we haven’t been granted the privilege of watching Brian Wilson dominating on the mound this season, we can turn to YouTube and catch up with our resident MLB weirdo. Wilson is recovering from Tommy John surgery, and what better way to spend it then with Sasquatch?
With pitchers and catchers beginning to report for Spring Training this week, what better way to ring in the start to the 2012 MLB season, then with a little Brian Wilson. Here’s a collection of some classic sound bytes.
"Fear The Mustache" Vote Ed Lee! (Because Brian Wilson Says So)
San Fransisco Giants eccentric pitcher Brian Wilson, shows up as just one of several famous guest stars in a new viral video endorsing Mayoral candidate Ed Lee (current interim Mayor) in San Fransisco. Wilson can be seen through out the video rocking some M.C Hammer pants (with authority) and dancing to the tune of the 80’s hit “Too Legit, To Quit” by M.C Hammer, who also makes an appearance. Also seen in the video is former heavy hitter, Ronnie Lott of the 49ers and Black Eyed Peas frontman, Will.I.Am (But who cares about that guy?)
Gotta admit, the guy is great for baseball, and so is his beard. Here is a clip of the upcoming show “The Franchise”, covering the world champion San Francisco Giants, and beast closer Brian Wilson. This is Wilson’s new catch phrase, and something we should all consider implementing into our daily vocabulary. “Got Heeeeeem.”
Brian Wilson and Keenan Cahill
YouTube star Keenan Cahill, recently took to the web with his new-found companions from the World Series Champion San Francisco Giants. Pitcher Brian Wilson, known for his loud personality and “amazing” beard joined outfielder Cody Ross in a rendition of the Taio Cruz hit “Dynamite.”
Cahill, is best known for his lip synching performances on YouTube, of all the latest hits. He was joined by the Giants superstars to help promote an upcoming fundraiser for Cahill as he suffers from a rare genetic disease called Maroteaux-Lamy Syndrome, that has stunned his growth.
Did anybody else catch this slightly awkward post game interview with Time Lincecum and Brian Wilson? Wilson makes his “skeptic” feel a little uncomfortable and Tim Lincecum’s boyish “guns” can barely hold the weight of the trophy.
